Let’s not talk about me as though I’m not here.

A pessimist at heart, I won the Wisconsin Optimist Club Oratorical Contest in 2001 (or ‘02, mom will remember). I channeled that early fame into a successful career in nonprofit communications, journalism, groundskeeping, coffee-roasting, summer camp counseling, retail middle management, emergency medicine, bookselling, farming, and homemaking.

I hold a BA in journalism from UW-Milwaukee and an MFA from Bennington College Writing Seminars. My sporadic work has appeared at Image Journal, Hobart, The Stranger, and Points In Case.

I live in Bayfield, Wisconsin with my family.
